If you guys following me on Snapchat, you know that I have been Everything Spicing basically ALL the things this past month or two. I have been on a bender of keeping my weekday meals as simple as possible, but maximizing the flavors whenever I can. This blend is basically the best way to do this.
I mix up a batch of this and it gets tossed on roast potatoes and squash. It’s incredible an avocado toast and the perfect topped to your morning eggs. I have added it to sautéed veggies, we did a whole chicken on the grill sometime last month, beer-can style with some hard cider and we coated the chicken in this blend. Out of this world good. It’s been an amazing as a rub on grilled, roasted and sautéed meats and fish of all varying types. And finally, I have made amazing grain-free crackers with this blend (that recipe is coming later this week). You could also swirl this blend into cream cheese or goat cheese, or just add it to homemade hummus or other dips.
I am excited to finally share it with you guys, so you too can whip up a batch and start maximizing your flavor enhancements ASAP. I am guessing most of the ingredients are things you already have in your pantry or your spice rack, so get to it! For what it’s worth, I prefer the dried flaked or minced onion and garlic, rather than a powder. I have made it both ways and the flaked has more heft to it and it tends to mix into the blend better, rather than just falling to the bottom of the jar. Same goes for the Maldon sea salt flakes vs a fine grain sea salt. Black pepper is optional here, but if you are someone that loves just a little hint of spicy heat, it’s a great addition.
What are you gonna put your Everything Bagel Blend on?
- 1 tablespoon dried onion flakes/minced onion
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
- 1 tablespoon dried garlic flakes/minced garlic
- 2 teaspoon Maldon flaked sea salt (or coarse kosher or sea salt)
- 1 teaspoon crushed black pepper (optional)
- Add each of the spices into a small bowl, and mix together until well-combined. Store the blend in a air-tight container.
Hey Beth! Thought I should leave a comment on this after making sooo many batches of it! We gave this to people in little jars as gifts over Christmas and everyone loves it on chicken, roast veges and especially scrambled eggs. Our favourite is to use it on zucchini noodles mmmm. Thanks for the great tutorial!
YASSSSS!! This makes me SOO happy to hear this, I am obsessed with this blend. In fact, I am nearly out, I need to make a new batch. I love that you have it as gifts!
