It is time I make a serious admission to you guys. I am a kitchen gadget addict. Who is with me? I know I am not alone. My husband may kill me if I add one more appliance into our kitchen, but I just can’t help myself.
Seriously, I love any and all kitchen gadgets and appliances. The easier they can make my life or the more fun they can make cooking – the more tempted I am to pull them out on the regular. I seriously cannot think of a single gadget in my kitchen that doesn’t get used at least once a month. So, you better believe I was super excited to receive a Zojirushi Rice Cooker to play around with, to give my thoughts on and to host a giveaway with.
This Zojirushi Rice Cooker & Warmer not only cooks flawless rice every time, but it also comes with a nifty little basket that turns this rice cooker into a steamer, as well. It includes Fuzzy logic technology and various menu settings such as brown, porridge and quick cook – so no matter what type of rice you are cooking and what kind of time you are dealing with, this will work for you.
Other amazing details of the Zojirushi Rice Cooker & Warmer:
- Easy-to-read LCD control panel with Clock (24H)
- Accessories include steaming basket, rice measuring cup and nonstick rice spatula
- Black thick inner cooking pan provides even heating for better cooking
- Convenient steam cook function
- Detachable and washable inner lid
Another bonus is, that Zojirushi also supplies you with simple to follow instructions for making the perfect rice, which includes rinsing and washing the rice, actually using your hands to stir the grains and really rinsing them well. Plus in the instruction manual, Zojirushi shares several amazing recipes for your perfectly cooked rice, including sushi, mixed rice bowls, porridge and more.
I have to be totally honest with you, as someone that cooks quite often I have to say, I have always stunk at making rice. I can never get it perfectly fluffy and light, the way you can at your favorite Indian or Thai restaurant. I am always so disappointed in how my rice comes out at home. Until now. I have so far the opportunity to use this Zojirush Rice Cooker to make both white basmati rice and brown rice and I was really impressed by how perfect the rice came out each and every time.
I love having cooked rice on hand, to have with curries or other stews or in a simple veggie salad, but mostly I love having it on hand for one of my favorite quick weeknight dinners – fried rice. I make my simple fried rice with leftover rice at least once a month, I add in whatever veggies we have on hand and it is one of our absolute favorite meals. If you’ve ever made your own fried rice, you know that the quality of your fried rice depends so much on how well your rice was cooked, soggy or sticky rice will not do. So, I am full-on excited to know that my fried rice will be on another level from now on. (Oh and don’t worry my fried rice recipe will be up very soon)
I have also steamed both cauliflower and broccoli in my Zojirush Rice Cooker and it was a breeze, perfectly cooked, never soggy or waterlogged. I am really looking forward to making even more delicious, perfectly cooked foods in this amazing gadget.
So, if you can’t tell already you guys, this Zojirush Rice Cooker has officially become my new best kitchen friend and I am excited to announce that one very lucky Tasty Yummies reader will also be getting one of these amazing Zojirush Rice Cookers, themselves.

This mama needs a rice cooker!! Thanks for hosting the giveaway.
Yah you do, it is so darn amazing. I kinda love that it does more than make rice, too! I will be steaming up a storm in this thing!
I just was recently schooled on rice making by my boyfriends family. (They are Pakistani and VERY particular.) So if you want perfectly light, fluffy and not-sticky basmati rice, the trick is to wash it by covering it with water and agitating it until the water is cloudy, then rinse and repeat until the water is clear. Then soak it for 10 minutes before cooking.
I have the same problem with kitchen appliances and gadgets. Just this last weekend I broke out a new spiralizer and mandolin. I’ve had to commandeer half of our coat closet with shelving for spill over from the kitchen, including our slow cooker, cheapo rice cooker, immersion blender, juicer, soda stream, etc. Just yesterday my boyfriend was getting on me about how we have no more room for more kitchen stuff. But… I think I could find room. 🙂
Lynell, thanks so much for sharing this! I actually updated the post just now, because I totally forgot to mention how Zojirushi actually includes instructions in their manual on rinsing the rice by hand, in a similar manner to what you suggested for the “perfect” fluffy rice, every time. I totally almost forgot to mention that. Their instructions do not include soaking, but maybe I will have to try that next time, too.
Ha, your kitchen sounds like mine. Mixers, blenders, processors, grinders, cookers, slicers and more 😉 Always room for one more, that’s for sure! Thanks again for the comment.
I’ve heard great things about these cookers. Thanks for the opportunity to win one!
Am I too late to enter? I need one of these!!!
