A while back Vega One contacted me and asked if I would like to try their new French Vanilla Vega One Nutritional Shake, I of course obliged, I mean who doesn’t love sampling new (and hopefully yummy) food products? I received two packets and with the first I made it straight-up, as is with just some almond milk and ice in the blender. It was quite good, super thick and creamy and it had a really nice flavor. It definitely had just a little of the chalkiness that we’ve all come to know with these types of products, but it was still very appetizing and satisfying and had a really good flavor.
After making the first one straight-forward, I decided to have fun with the second shake and I made a pumpkin pie smoothie. I enjoyed this even more than the first one I made, that is besides the fact that I spilled a good 3/4 of it when the wind blew over my photo back drop (thankfully that was the only tragedy we experienced in over here Western New York due to Sandy). Check out my Photo Fun Day Friday post where I show a little behind the scenes blooper shot of this smoothie’s ultimate demise.
The smoothie was even creamier and it had a fun color to it, the spices and the pumpkin were nicely complimented by creaminess and the smooth french vanilla taste, it kept me full longer than most smoothies I make.
[print_this]Pumpkin Pie Power Smoothie
serves 1 or makes 2 smaller servings
1/2 cup organic coconut milk, the canned kind (full fat or lite)
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1/2 cup organic pumpkin puree
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
1 level scoop (or one snack pack) of Vega One French Vanilla Nutritional Shake
sweetener of your choice, if needed – I add a couple of drops of vanilla liquid stevia
small handful of ice
Add all of the ingredients to the blender and process until smooth and creamy.

My favorite smoothie is a kale+banana+almond butter smoothie that I make with some brown rice protein powder. I’d replace the almond butter and protein with the vega and I’m sure it’d taste super delicious!

I love Vega’s powders but haven’t tried all of their new line. I’ve have the vanilla one and boy is it ever strongly flavoured! In the summer, I liked it in my oatmeal with some cherries.
I already subscribe to tasty Yummies through RSS.
I would LUV to win the Vega Nutritional Shake! Everything you make is awesome, so, I believe this should be nothing but exceptional too!
oh, NO! I would have somehow found a way to drink it… and great photo, actually – I love how the spice on top is all still intact, now near the bottom edge…
this looks fantastic – I would definitely make this with my Vega, and then the next day I’d make a “smoothie” breakfast version of my salted caramel milkshake. another way I’d use this – adding it to my fresh juice – each morning I juice carrots, ginger, apple and beets, then blend that with spinach. this would be great in there as well!
I would love to use that french vanilla protein powder to recreate the protein shakes that I used to have for breakfast before having to take dairy and gluten out of my diet. OJ, POM, protein powder, frozen acai and mixed berries and a tablespoon of ground flax seed. But that pumpkin spice shake looks to darn good to pass up! I’d definitely give that a try!
I like tasty yummies on facebook, but can’t seem to find the vegaone facebook page. 🙁
Erin, thanks for letting me know, I just corrected the link above.
Thanks and good luck to you 🙂
My favorite smoothie that I make every morning is bananas, cashew butter, cacao powder, almond milk (I make this myself using 1 cup almonds and 4 cups coconut water) and ice. It is super delicious and contains a lot of protein, electrolytes and potassium that I need to start my day off on the right foot. I think the addition of Vega One French Vanilla Nutritional Shake powder would make this smoothie taste even better and I could even use it to replace the cacao powder when I feel like a differernt flavor.
My favorite smoothie is simple: cocoa-banana-almond butter. I think adding some vega powder to it would be a great idea!

I have been receiving your blog in my email box for a few months and it has been inspiring. I used to be a real foodie and loved to cook but when I had to go on a dairy free, gluten free diet I found myself in a dull routine with my diet. I love all the great recipes you post! My favorite shake at the moment is blueberries and papaya frozen pieces in the blender with lite coconut milk, a good splash of rice milk, protein powder & ground chia. Would love to win this Vega Nutrional powder – I love that it has the probiotics included. It sounds terrific! Cheers ~ Rhonda (I am off to find your Twitter)
My favorite smoothie has almond milk, cinnamon, spinach, a frozen banana, strawberries and/or blueberries, and some sort of nut butter 🙂 I love making different kinds of smoothies.
