It’s been a while since I have shared a cocktail recipe here on Tasty Yummies. These days I am only really drinking at home when we have people over for dinner or something of that nature, but with this fig tree in our yard, I have been forced to get super creative with all of these figs we are getting.
I even came up with a hashtag #gettingfiggywitit on Instagram, for all my fun fig adventures. Besides all of this yumminess, I have been freezing them for use in smoothies later and I have dehydrated some to also use later and some are getting mailed to my parents. If you can believe it, our tree is still going strong. We are going to have figs for quite some time.
This Fig, Vanilla Bean and Cardamom Infused Vodka is so simple to make, within a week you’ll be making cocktails that will blow your friends away! If you aren’t big on cocktails and the fuss of mixing, this vodka is so good you can enjoy it as is on the rocks or as a simple martini (see the recipe below).
For those that want something a little bit more substantial than vodka, try infusing bourbon or rum. I sent Meg of Beard and Bonnet home with a bunch of figs a while back when I was headed out of town, and she did something similar with her figs, except she infused brandy with her figs. I am not a big brandy drinker myself, but I love all the diversity and options when infusing spirits.
I have a feeling I will be making this infused vodka again, at least a few more times before the season is up. Maybe I need to have a fig dinner party at our house. Every dish and cocktail made somehow with figs. Haha! What are some of your favorite ways to enjoy figs?
[print_this]Fig, Vanilla Bean and Cardamom Infused Vodka (Gluten-free, Vegan & Sugar-free)
- 1 liter bottle of vodka
- 1 lb of fresh organic figs, stems removed and cut into quarters
- 2 organic vanilla beans, split
- 1-2 tablespoons dried cardamom pods
- You’ll need two 1 quart jars, a large pitcher, 1 liter bottle, etc.
I made two different blends, one with just fig and vanilla bean, another with fig, vanilla and the cardamom, so I only used 1 tablespoon of the cardamom.
Add all of the ingredients to a glass jar, pitcher or bottle. Let sit in the fridge for at least 1 week. Strain out the figs, vanilla beans, cardamom pods, etc and add back to the jar or bottle. Enjoy as is on the rocks or in cocktails! I shared a couple of recipes below. [/print_this]
[print_this]Figtini
- 3 ounces chilled homemade fig infused vodka
- ice
- 1 fresh fig, thinly sliced
Shake vodka and ice cubes in a cocktail shaker, strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with fresh fig slices.
This is also delicious shaken with some of the honey fig jam.

[print_this]The Figgy Fizz
- 1 teaspoon honey fig jam*
- 2 ounces fig infused vodka
- ice
- prosecco
Shake vodka, fig jam and ice cubes in a cocktail shaker, strain into a champagne flute. Fill the glass to the top with prosecco, give it a very gentle stir. Garnish with a fresh fig slice.
*If you don’t have the honey fig jam or store-bought fig jam, muddle half a fresh fig with a little honey and the vodka before you shake it. [/print_this]
Thanks for the name suggestion Sherrie.

Oh my. The second and fourth picture are just… stunning. I don’t even like figs but this I would try (and I’m sure love!)
Can I use dried figs instead of fresh to make the vodka? I can’t get any fresh figs around here

Greetings Beth from Sunny Queensland!
I do this infusion with apricots. Any more thoughts on long-drink recipes? I use, soda water, ginger ale or sprite. I feel I can do better!
Bye for now. Keith.
They look amazingly delicious! I wish I could have a glass of the Figgy Fizz right now!
