Happy August Everyone and Happy Friday, too! I am not quite sure where July went. It was a busy one for us, lots of events, lots of friend hang time and a trip to San Francisco for work! I am hoping August might give us a little more time to relax and enjoy the summer, though looking at my calendar it just doesn’t seem that way 😉 Hope you are having a wonderful Summer so far. It goes way too fast, doesn’t it?

Real friends know you like sweet and savory together (oh and non-GMO popcorn). Chocolate drizzled popcorn for dessert? Yes please!

Scenes from the Green Truck, an LA food truck that serves organic, locally sourced foods! The truck actually runs on recycled vegetable oil. All of their packaging and utensils are either recyclable or compostable and they compost everything back to the farms where they source from. How cool is all that?

I got their super yummy CALI KALE BOWL: Organic kale, mushrooms, quinoa, Gilroy garlic, shaved raw beets and carrots tossed with lemon, sea salt and pepper, and sprinkled with sesame seeds

Goodies from our garden. Heirloom zucchini and cucumbers and some banana peppers.

I decided to pickle some of the cucumbers and peppers. I even made a quick batch after this, of pickled zucchini.

We took a half day last week for a beach day. So needed! (some of the perks of living less than 1 mile from the beach)

Epic lunch salad sourced almost entirely from my garden, my friend Dan’s and our CSA. Kale, lentils, cucumber, heirloom tomato, red onion, basil, feta and a light lemon vinaigrette.

Grilled veggies are my obsession this summer. Look for this recipe next week!

I love that this was set up at the event in San Francisco. I wish all public events were this mindful and organized.

First tomato from our garden. Italian heirloom organic cherry tomato. It was incredible.

Squash blossoms at the farmers market. I didn’t get them this time, but I need to try making them soon, before they are gone.

The beginnings of a huge pot of chicken stock (made with organic, pasture-raised chicken). Poor Mark was feeling under the weather, so that called for a big pot of soup, made with LOVE, just for him.
