Golden Rice and Cauliflower Pilaf

Every single day, the choices we make, when eating, have the power to not only impact our own health and vitality, but also that of many others. The decisions we make on the food we put into our bodies, of course, affects us from a nutritional standpoint, but our choices also have the power to affect our environment and our community, both locally and globally. That sure is a heavy burden to put on an unassuming Golden Rice and Cauliflower Pilaf, but the proof is in the ingredients.

I recently had the opportunity to partner with REBBL, to collaborate and develop a unique, inspired recipe using one of their amazing elixirs. I discovered their products some time last year, while shopping at Whole Foods. I was instantly drawn to their commitment to quality of ingredients, sourcing and their efforts on leaving a lasting and positive impact. REBBL‘s level of consciousness leads to products that are certified organic and fair-trade and you’ll only find real food ingredients listed – no lab-created flavors or thickeners. REBBL also takes great interest and care in their formulas and the efficacy of their super-herbs and other super food ingredients. Finally, with their transparency you can actually track ingredients using their Sourcing Tracker to see their commitment to sustainable farming and their support of fair labor practices.

REBBL is an acronym: roots, extracts, berries, bark and leaves, the various all-plant constituents they use to craft their super herb Elixirs, utilizing the most revered healing plants on earth. REBBL‘s  herbal adaptogens at truly meaningful levels, to help you achieve your optimum state of wellness. With Elixir’s like Ashwagandha Chai, Reishi Chocolate, Maca Mocha, Maca Cold-Brew, Turmeric Golden-Milk and Matcha Latte – it’s not a simple task to choose just one to create with, but you guys also already know about my obsession with the anti-inflammatory powerhouse turmeric. It’s part of my every single day. Either through supplementation or with my homemade golden milk. But I have also fallen in love with REBBL’s Golden Milk Elixir, because all the work is done for me, with the most incredible, high-quality ingredients. Right down to the black pepper extract and coconut milk to boost the bioavailability of the curcumin in the turmeric. (Read more about the benefits of turmeric and curcumin here)

As a lover of savory and always wanting to bring everything back to meal time, I really wanted to create a dish that would not just include the REBBL Golden Milk Elixir, rather I really wanted to highlight the beautiful flavors and vibrant color in unique and practical way. This pilaf is a bit less than traditional in that it blends beautiful, light and fluffy and aromatic basmati rice with grain-free cauliflower-rice, sneaking in a veggie and stretching this side dish a bit further. The rice cooks as usual in a mixture of the anti-inflammatory Golden Milk Elixir with a little broth (or water), the minced garlic, infuses it’s flavor and aromatics into all of that goodness, then at end we add the cauliflower rice, allow that to steam a few minutes and just before serving the pilaf gets toss with toasted cashews, golden raisins and fresh cilantro (or parsley). This Golden Rice and Cauliflower Pilaf is a wonderful side to so many varying meals, it would be great at breakfast, lunch or dinner and it’s a breeze to make.

Lasting Good!

REBBL was born out of a passionate collaboration between global thought-leaders to identify an innovative, sustainable, market-based solution to prevent exploitation in the Peruvian Amazon. REBBL was founded in partnership with Not For Sale the non-profit was looking for a way to have a lasting positive impact on a native community in a particular region of the Peruvian Amazon, where residents were vulnerable to human trafficking. In an effort to help fund NFS’s mission to eliminate human trafficking in several vulnerable areas around the globe, REBBL has committed to donating 2.5% of all sales back to NFS. As the product line has evolved and continues to evolve, NFS continues its partnership with REBBL by ensuring a responsible and ethical supply chain. Prep time
Cook time
Total time
gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, vegetarian
Serves: 4-6
  • 1 cup organic basmati rice
  • 1 12 ounce bottle REBBL Golden Milk Elixir
  • ½ cup chicken broth, vegetable broth or water
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 cups raw cauliflower rice
  • ½ cup golden raisins
  • ½ toasted cashews
  • sea salt and black pepper, to taste
  • fresh cilantro or parsley, roughly chopped
  1. In a medium pan (or if using a rice cooker) add the rice, REBBL Golden Milk, broth (or water) and garlic. Prepare according to package instructions for the rice (cooking times can vary). Generally instructions will state to bring to a boil, reduce heat to simmer. Cover and cook for 20 minutes, or until all the liquid is absorbed. (I make mine in the rice cooker)
  2. In the last 5 minutes of the rice cooking, remove the lid and add the cauliflower rice, stir well to combine. Place the lid back on and allow to cook the remaining 5 minutes, or until all the liquid is absorbed.
  3. Remove from the heat and place into a serving bowl. Add the toasted cashews and golden raisins. Toss to mix. Serve warm, topped with fresh cilantro or parsley. Enjoy.
If you can't get REBBL's Golden Milk Elixir near you, leave it out and instead increase the broth to 1 cup and include 1 cup of full fat coconut milk and 1 teaspoon ground turmeric. Whisk this all together well and boil with the rice, include a good amount of black pepper. If you have the time, you can also make your own Golden Milk
