The Six Month Mindful Living Challenge

The Six Month Mindful Living Challenge

“Ego-identification with things creates attachment to things, obsession with things, which in turn creates our consumer society and economic structures where the only measure of progress is always more. The unchecked striving for more, for endless growth, is a dysfunction and a disease. It is the same dysfunction the cancerous cell manifests, whose only goal is to multiply itself, unaware that it is bringing about it’s own destruction by destroying the organism of which is is a part.“

The quote above is from Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth and I think it captures our society perfectly. We are the definition of cancer, consuming for the sake of consuming. That is why I want to challenge you to change, to cure the cancer that infects us all: the ego.

The Six Month Mindful Living Challenge {The lovely Vyana Marie}

You can start this 6 month challenge at any time. If you’re joining us late, start at Month 1 Week 1. If you feel yourself strongly resisting this challenge, or a part of the challenge, then it is exactly what you need. That negativity you’re feeling has a root emotion, and it’s root is fear. Fear cleverly controls us by disguising itself as disgust, anger, greed, etc and it is controlled by our ego.

I am super excited to be partnering with Vyana Marie of Wild Roots on this Six Month Mindful Living Challenge. Each week Vyana will share challenges, tips on small everyday changes we can make to consume less, yoga asanas and mini meditations. We’ll work through our plastic, water, & electrical consumption, food, garbage, movement & meditation. As part of the series, each month I will be sharing a recipe to tie into the theme. We will be working to not only lessen our impact but also diminish our ego, that is to say the mind structures that hold us in a place of suffering. Get ready to live in a more peaceful & balanced way!

I will update you guys each week with a post here on Tasty Yummies directing you to the current challenge, yoga series and mini-meditation for the current week. Check back here each week to get linked up to the current week’s outline, as well as past weeks (see the links below)! We’d love for you to share your thoughts on the challenge, your tips on what you are doing, etc. Get involved and share!

I love this! I think a lot of people feel overwhelmed when it comes to living more mindfully because they feel like they need to tackle all of these things at once. Breaking it down into baby steps over 6 months shows just how accessible mindful living can be. I’ll definitely be joining the challenge!

I am so grateful to have found this article! I’ve recently come through a challenging phase in my life and have been looking for a way to get back into my yoga practice and cleanse my soul a little, while still giving something back to the Universe. I’m looking forward to joining in.

This is PERFECT! My best friend and I are both at a crossroads in life and feel it’s the right time to focus more fully on awareness and health and a natural lifestyle. This is an excellent guide for us both! As someone else said, it can feel a little overwhelming to get on board with what I know I should be doing, so a nice hand-holding guide is excellent. Thanks so much!!
