I am super excited to be sharing with you guys today, one of my favorite new cookbooks, The Blender Girl: Super-Easy, Super-Healthy Meals, Snacks, Desserts & Drinks. This drool worthy masterpiece is the debut cookbook from the beautifully talented Tess Masters, aka The Blender Girl. I met Tess last month at Expo West and I knew immediately when I saw her shining smile and welcoming presence, that she was someone I could totally get down with! Tess is a health-conscious blogger with a love for food very much like my own. The recipes in her brand new cookbook are all plant-based and gluten-free and each one is created with the intent to not only tantalize your taste buds but to also nourish your body and your soul. I have already bookmarked several of these amazing recipes to make over the next few weeks! I cannot wait to cook my way through this beautiful book.
The Blender Girl Cookbook is loaded with nutrient-dense recipes that run the gamut of creativity. Sure there are the traditional blenders recipes you’d expect to see in a cookbook like this, such as smoothies, sauces, juices and soups but Tess takes what a high speed blender can do, to new limits creating recipes like:

As I mentioned a little while back, I recently received a sample of Gold Label Coconut Oil from Tropical Traditions and I have really been enjoying making things with it. One of my favorites has been this Banana Blueberry Coconut Smoothie, that I featured recently. Sometimes I make a similar smoothie but instead of blueberries, I add in a tablespoon or two of unsweetened organic baking cocoa. Wow, what a delicious and sinful treat.
Another recipe that I made recently that really used coconut oil in a different way was this Blueberry Rosemary Multi-Grain Galette, instead of butter or a butter alternative, I use frozen coconut oil to give the crust of this galette the perfect texture, it is so easy and perfect if you are dairy-free or vegan.
And of course, the most popular recipe here on Tasty Yummies that really features coconut oil are my Dark Chocolate Coconut Treats, which can easily be made in a regular sized or mini-sized muffin tin. These may just be my favorite use for coconut oil.

In addition to being great to cook with, I also from time to time use coconut oil on my skin and hair (and the same goes for the dog), since it makes a really great natural moisturizer. Kitchen Measurement Conversion Print and Tea Towel GIVEAWAY!!
As many of you know, my husband Mark and I, own our own graphic design / illustration studio, Hero Design Studio, and we also have a storefront here in Buffalo where we sell all of the things we make by hand. Beyond all of our client work and having a storefront, we sell our wares online in our web store and our etsy store and we also travel the country attending different music festivals and craft fairs. I feel blessed every day to be able to do what I love most with the person I love most. Besides cooking, getting up and going to work is one of many joys in my life, I love being able to be creative everyday and to make what I love. There are so many similarities between cooking and a creative job, both come from the heart and are so personal. They are so unique to each individual and when you give yourself fully and honestly to your craft you are also (hopefully) bringing that love and happiness to others, as well.
I recently combined my love of design and illustration with my love of cooking and designed a kitchen measurement conversion print and a flour sack tea towel. The print is 8″ x 10″ and available in 4 different colors, Vintage Blue, Lemon Yellow, Retro Red and Green Apple and it was hand silkscreen printed by us. The 22″ x 38″ flour sack tea towel is available in Vintage Green and Retro Red and was hand silkscreen printed by our good friend Tom from Pavlov’s Togs. I have had a number of different food, wine and cooking projects on my mind for sometime now and I decided to make this the first of hopefully many, as it is not only fun to look at, but it is also functional.
