Photo Fun Day Friday
Hey friends!! Happy almost weekend and happy April to you all! 😉 I hope the spring is finally starting to show itself for you, wherever you are!! Here in Southern California, we actually had a chilly week and it was so welcomed and lovely! Here’s some photos from the last few weeks over here in my world! What’s going on in your world currently?
I was so super excited to get my hands on the beautiful new Oh She Glows Cookbook from Oh She Glows. As a fan of Angela’s blog for many years, I was really anticipating this book and it certainly lives up to the hype. So many wonderful vegan recipes!I am just loving my new Little Moments mediation cards from the beautiful Kristen Hedges. They are currently sold out, but keep checking back, she will have them in stock again soon, I am sure.
I love getting letters from my niece, Teagan and nephew, Noah – back home in NY. This time around I got a beautiful new photo of Teagan, taken by Buffalo Baby Photography my friend Jess’ brand new business. How adorable is she??
A recent haul from our gardens!! Loquats and avocados.
Got an advanced copy of the Blend Girl’s new book that officially releases on 4/8. Look for my full review and a giveaway this weekend! That’s me, just hangin’ out at the Pixies Hollow at Disneyland 😉
Some new tea towels hubby and I designed and hand silkscreen printed, they are also available as 8×10 prints. All are available in the Tasty Yummies store, now. -
Photo Fun Day Friday
Wow, it has been a very long while since I have put together a Photo Fun Day Friday post. It has really been a whirlwind of a few weeks, the holiday season seriously flew by, in a blink of an eye it went from Thanksgiving to New Years, it’s insane. So much going on! OK enough chatter, here’s a glimpse of the last few weeks. This might be the biggest Photo Fun Day Friday, yet!
Hope you all had a lovely holiday season and are excited for all that lies ahead in 2014! I know I am.
Our Thanksgiving Day early morning beach walk.
A boy and his mother!! Seriously, how cute are Jpeg and Indie? This is a rare site to see these two so sweetly lying together.
Sometimes, you just have to have chocolate for breakfast.
Old-timey Christmas Carolers on the beach right around the corner from our house.
The floating Christmas trees in the lagoon by our house. These make me so happy.
Took a fun holiday trip to Disneyland with Meg and her adorable fam. Such a fun day! I love this girl!
Yoga on the beach, in December. I still cannot get over how amazing this is!
Gettin’ wild on my mat with my Teeki pants.
Had a little holiday cocktail party at our house in early December. Of course Lucy was invited.
Ran into Kelly from The Spunky Coconut at the Renegade Craft Fair in LA. Such a lovely surprise.
How amazing is this sky? A regular occurrence during the winter months out here. It is magical.
A view from the christmas lights boat tour in Newport Beach. So amazing.
Our little Seri girl got sick, which meant I had to skip the road trip to San Francisco for our last holiday show of the year. I stayed home, nursed my baby back to health and we cuddled and watched Christmas movies together. Not a bad deal, afterall. Read the rest of this entry » -
Photo Fun Day Friday
Here we go, it’s Friday again, here are some pics from the last two weeks! Hope everyone has a great weekend!! Got anything fun planned?
Infusing vodka with figs and other goodies. Look for the how-to and some fun cocktail recipes later this week.
Went to Alex’s Bar here in Long Beach, AKA Fangtasia from True Blood with our friend Anjuli who was visiting from Buffalo. (I stopped watching the show many seasons ago, but it was still cool to see where they filmed those scenes)
Loving these amazing bottles from Lifefactory. Glass bottles with plastic-free silicon sleeves and they are free of known harmful chemicals like BPA, BPS, phthalate, etc. The wide mouth is great for adding fruit or ice to your water and you can even carry fresh juice or smoothies, without fear of it ruining the bottle or the flavor of your drink being affected, etc. Check out all of their products here http://amzn.to/14YqQw4
My runs by the ocean, don’t suck. Just sayin’
Super excited to get an advanced copy of my friend Kelly, of The Spunky Coconut’s brand new book: “The Paleo Chocolate Lovers’ Cookbook: 80 Gluten-Free Treats for Breakfast & Dessert”. Preorder it now. Look for my full review and a giveaway very soon!

Working from home means I get to enjoy mid-day cuddles and sometimes naps with this girl. I just love her so much!
A great reminder on the street near my acupuncture clinic.
I had a lady’s night dinner with Meg from Beard and Bonnet this week and I made this yummy treat to share. Grain-free flatbread with caramelized shallots, figs from our tree, goat cheese and arugula. Recipe coming next week.
I get some really fun products sent to me to try. This is wine spritzer that has electrolytes added. I cannot wait to try it. Half the calories of wine and zero sugar. Sounds like my kind of cocktail. I will report back!
I love taking Seri to the dog park to play ball. Nothing makes that dog happier.

Photo Fun Day Friday
I have been
busybad and I totally spaced on my Photo Fun Day Friday posts the last couple of weeks, so this is a bigger one than usual. I flew home to Buffalo this past weekend for the first time since we moved to Southern California six months ago! It was my niece Teagan’s 4th birthday and I hadn’t seen her since we left at the end of February. I missed her (and everyone) sooo much! It was a wonderful trip home, I crammed in as much time with friends and family as I could and just enjoyed every single bit of it.My happy place! The yoga studio here in Long Beach I currently practice at.
A bench at the dog park. Love this.
I cleaned like crazy two weekends ago and it felt great. When I was done I had to snap a few pics, I am in love with this house.
My running partner. She especially loves running on the beach.
I finally found a place for my prayer flags. My parents bought these for me and they are the same ones as my favorite yoga studio in Buffalo, East Meets West. These remind me of home.
Bounty from our garden.
Me forward folding. One of my favorite yoga poses!

Photo Fun Day Friday
Happy August Everyone and Happy Friday, too! I am not quite sure where July went. It was a busy one for us, lots of events, lots of friend hang time and a trip to San Francisco for work! I am hoping August might give us a little more time to relax and enjoy the summer, though looking at my calendar it just doesn’t seem that way 😉 Hope you are having a wonderful Summer so far. It goes way too fast, doesn’t it?
This is my greeting card assembly line getting ready for an event. The team was seriously slacking this day.
Real friends know you like sweet and savory together (oh and non-GMO popcorn). Chocolate drizzled popcorn for dessert? Yes please!
Scenes from the Green Truck, an LA food truck that serves organic, locally sourced foods! The truck actually runs on recycled vegetable oil. All of their packaging and utensils are either recyclable or compostable and they compost everything back to the farms where they source from. How cool is all that?
I got their super yummy CALI KALE BOWL: Organic kale, mushrooms, quinoa, Gilroy garlic, shaved raw beets and carrots tossed with lemon, sea salt and pepper, and sprinkled with sesame seeds
Our booth at the Renegade Craft Fair in LA two weekends ago.
OK, seriously, how amazing is this greeting card? Made by Life is Funny Press.

Photo Fun Day Friday
I missed out on posting my Photo Fun Day Friday last week. It is a busy month. We have a ton of events and lots planned. I love that about the summer. It’s non-stop! This weekend we will be set up at the Renegade Craft Fair in LA. You should come by and check it out if you are in the area. It is FREE and there are over 250 amazing vendors selling their handmade goods, there are free workshops for the kids, lots of food trucks, etc. Stop by the Hero booth and see us if you make it out.
The first couple of figs from our tree!! Most of them aren’t ready yet, but I cannot wait!
Warm lemon water every morning. Love this mug!
Last week, I hit my first 4 mile run!! I was sooo proud of myself. I am really loving running now and I am so happy to see some major changes in my body already, as a result. Running 2 to 3 times a week and sticking with my 4 mile runs each time, until it gets super easy for me!
I received my FREE wildflower seeds from Burt’s Bees and I am so excited to plant them. Whatever I can do to help save our bee friends! -
Photo Fun Day Friday
Happy Friday!! Hope all of my American readers had a happy, fun and safe 4th of July!! Did you do anything fun yesterday??
We’ve had a great week!! So excited that summer is in full swing and trying to enjoy every moment of it.I froze some watermelon balls (used a melon baller to scoop out fresh watermelon then put it on a parchment paper lined sheet until they were frozen and they have been delicious in sparkling water.
Seri can always find even the smallest patch of sunlight shining in.
The view from my yoga mat at Wanderlust Yoga in the City. Yoga amongst hundreds of strangers under the hot sun on the Santa Monica Pier. It was perfection.
I am getting really creative with the zucchini around here, since I have so much of it. Look for this recipe later this week.

Photo Fun Day Friday
This is a short but sweet one. We have been quite busy this week. After having my parent’s here for a visit last week, it was back to reality and back to work for us. Can’t believe it is already July next week. We have a fun weekend planned, with some relaxing and some fun. I am headed up to LA on Sunday for the Wanderlust Yoga in the City event at the Santa Monica Pier. Any of you headed there?
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, no matter what you have planned!
We went for an amazing bike ride to the beach the night of the Supermoon and it was epic. So beautiful. I hope you all got to experience it as well.
The pictures do it no justice. At all. Did you get to see it?
Made a bowl of my vegan avocado chocolate mousse. Man, I forgot how good that is. Read the rest of this entry » -
Photo Fun Day Friday
Happy Friday guys!! I will keep the chatter to a minimum on this one, since I have to finish cleaning up the house and go to the airport to pick up my parents!! YAY!!!
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. I will be busy enjoying my parent’s company this upcoming week, but I have some fun posts lined up for you guys. I hope you enjoy.
Our booth in Silverlake this past Saturday.
Set up all day on Sunday at the Rose Bowl Flea. Such a fun event!
I recently discovered how smart it is to zest my lemons before I juice them for my daily warm lemon water. I keep a container in the freezer and I just keep adding to it. It’s great to toss into pasta dishes, in salad dressings, etc.
Look at this beautiful juice. I cannot recall everything that was in it, but it definitely contained beets 🙂

Photo Fun Day Friday (on a Monday)
I realize it is Monday and I am a few days late on my Photo Fun Day Friday, but with my sister visiting, I wanted to keep all the photos for one big post and I also didn’t want to be a slave to my computer while she was here. We had an amazing time together and we got to show her all around! It was soo much fun, I just wish it didn’t go so fast and I wish I knew when I would be seeing her again! That’s the worst part of moving away from your family 🙁 My parents will be here in just over 3 weeks though, so we get another amazing week of family time coming very soon!
Our favorite house guest, Lucy! How cute is she?
Our newest art print – Goin’ to the Beach – can you tell we have already been inspired by our surroundings?
Our Mad Men inspired print, You’re a Marilyn or a Jackie, recently reprinted and rereleased.
Our booth at Unique LA last weekend. Brand new design, constructed completely out of recycled wood pallets.
Seri and her favorite Auntie, my sister, Vicky! So so happy she came to see us for almost an entire week! Just wish she didn’t have to go 🙁 Her trip went way too fast.

Photo Fun Day Friday
In switching to a new hosting company last week, I had to skip out on Photo Fun Day Friday, so there are lots of pics this week! However, I have to tell you about how very excited I am about my new hosting company. I am now working with Pair Networks out of Pittsburgh, PA after a not so desirable run with another company. What really drew me to this company is their commitment to sustainable business practices and their environmental policies. All of pair Networks’ operations, including data centers, support operations, development labs, administrative facilities, and employee commutes & business travel are 100% Carbon Neutral. Additionally, pair Networks is powered by 100% renewable energy.
I urge you to check out Pair Networks and consider switching your hosting, if you are in the market. Their customer service has been amazing and they respond to all of my questions in a very timely matter, even with the 3 hours time difference. (I actually received a personal response to an email from them on a Friday night at 10pm, their time). They aren’t sponsoring me to say all of this, I am just very happy with their service so far and after being quite unhappy with my last company I know there are a lot of not so great companies in that industry, so I thought I would share.
OK, on to the photos. I first wanted to share with you, my two brand-new promo photos – aka “head shots” (that sounds so fancy) that you might have noticed here on the site. These were taken by the very talented Luke Copping, in Buffalo NY, shortly before we moved out here to So Cal. It was high time I got some pro photos for the site, for press mentions, etc and it was a really fun excuse to get my makeup done (thanks Shianne at Fawn and Fox) and feel good about myself. We also got some photos taken of Mark and I for Hero Design Studio. So happy to have some great professional photos of us, not from our wedding day! Thanks again, Luke!
OK now here’s quality you are used to – all the non-pro pics I took over the last two weeks 😉
I am in love with all the roses growing in our yard. The fragrance from this particular variety is amazing. Just cut some yesterday to bring into the house and they smell heavenly.
Jpeg enjoying his time with his daddy.
We are in full festival mode over here. We set up at the Rose Bowl Flea two weekends ago and it was great! Cannot wait to go back.
The Hero Booth at the Rose Bowl Flea.
With a 3:30 am wake up call, I of course brought some Vigilant Eats Superfood Cereal with me to the event and it was perfect. I LOVE that stuff.
Me workin’ the booth!
After working all weekend, you know we had to take a day off and head to Disneyland. Yay annual passes!!
Lettuce (and other greens) wraps have been my jam lately. I have been putting everything in them.
This is our banana tree!! I cannot even believe I have a banana tree!
When we moved to California we sold our second car with plans of buying bikes to replace it. Finally got around to doing that and it has been awesome!! I have been biking everywhere. My favorite has been cycling to the ocean for my morning run, then back home. Such an enjoyable workout.
All I have to do is sit for a minute and Seri can find a home on or near me.
Went to a Shabu Shabu restaurant here and I am officially obsessed!! Love that it is vegan/gluten-free friendly, too.
I am pretty obsessed with this delicious organic kombucha made by husband and wife companyFine Feathers Co., here in Long Beach. They make all of their deliveries around town on bike!
Some mornings this baby makes getting up nearly impossible.
I made some loquat simple syrup with some of the many loquats growing on my tree. So delicious in sparkling water.
Veggie fried rice inspired by Jeanette’s Healthy Living.
Hubs skateboarding.
Even standing on a skateboard terrifies me. Yoga or die! 😉
The view on our morning bike ride the other day, Naples Island.
Soo very happy to have a family face visit us yesterday! Jane came for a quick visit yesterday, so I made a bit pot of Avgolemeno Soup for her. It’s her favorite.
This is what happens when Seri and I go on a walk. She just wants to lay in my lap on the grass and take it all in. She sat here forever just watching everything going on. I love it.
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!
Got anything fun planned?
