  2. Yoga Teacher Training – FREE Beginner’s Yoga Class in Santa Monica 1/27 & 1/29

    American Yoga School
Hello there my Los Angeles-area friends, as many of you know I am in the middle of a yoga teacher training program this month, to finally become a registered yoga teacher. This coming week is our final week in our 200-hour training and this upcoming Friday – we graduate! As part of the curriculum, this upcoming Monday 1/27 and Wednesday 1/29 mornings – myself and my fellow classmates that are in the program with American Yoga School, will be teaching a FREE yoga class at a Naam Yoga LA in Santa Monica.

We are looking for beginner students that would like to come to either or both of our hour-long classes next week, designed for students with little-to-no prior yoga experience, where we, as soon-to-be yoga teachers, will be working on honing our skills. There are limited spots, so it is pre-registration only. Your attendance as a student will play a HUGE role in our learning process and our growth as teachers, so it would mean the world to us to have you attend our class.

If you are in the LA area and can attend either the Monday, January 27th: 9am – 10am class or the Wednesday, January 29th: 9am – 10am class, please email me at tastyyummies{at}me.com to reserve a spot. Reservations are required so that we can make sure we have enough room and plenty of props. Again, this class is free/donation optional and is meant for beginners or those with a newer yoga practice.

Naam Yoga Studio is at 1231 4th street Santa Monica, CA

Whether or not you are able to attend, if know someone who might enjoy this, please feel free to share! Thank you!

  3. Yoga Teacher Training.

    Yoga Teacher Training

Happy Monday! In the event you haven’t seen me mention it here on the blog or on my Facebook Page, I wanted to take a moment to let you know what is going on here on Tasty Yummies this month. Beginning today, I am embarking on a month-long program to becoming a certified yoga teacher. It is Monday through Friday, for 4 weeks straight, at the end of which I will be a 200-hour registered yoga teacher!

How I Got My Start with Yoga.

This journey is something I have dreamt of and been looking forward to, for a very long time. I starting practicing yoga about 7 years ago. It began with a 6-week intro to yoga course at East Meets West Yoga in Buffalo in 2007. In many ways it was love-at-first-forward-fold, but in other ways it was a huge awakening and humbling experience. I struggled with many aspects of my practice, at first. For me, many of the challenges came from the mental and emotional responses of learning to quiet my mind and of course, the physical limitations of putting my body into positions it had never been in and that I never thought possible.

I didn’t dive right into a daily practice after the intro course, I would hit classes here and there, I would use sicknesses, injuries and busyness as excuses to take a month or two off. I was in a place in my life that I wanted to see instant results, I wanted to be better at yoga than I was and I wasn’t looking at the path of getting there, just the frustration of not already being there, like many of the seasoned yogis around me in class (who I now realize had likely been practicing for many, many years). If I had any element of sadness in my life, I would stay away from my mat, a result of being broken down to tears during savasana on a couple of occasions. I was later able to acknowledge that it was my own fear and my ego that wouldn’t let me fully give into my yoga practice. I guess I just wasn’t ready for all of it, quite yet.

Loving these amazing bottles from Lifefactory. Glass bottles with plastic-free silicon sleeves and they are free of known harmful chemicals like BPA, BPS, phthalate, etc. The wide mouth is great for adding fruit or ice to your water and you can even carry fresh juice or smoothies, without fear of it ruining the bottle or the flavor of your drink being affected, etc. Check out all of their products here http://amzn.to/14YqQw4

Happy August Everyone and Happy Friday, too! I am not quite sure where July went. It was a busy one for us, lots of events, lots of friend hang time and a trip to San Francisco for work! I am hoping August might give us a little more time to relax and enjoy the summer, though looking at my calendar it just doesn’t seem that way 😉 Hope you are having a wonderful Summer so far. It goes way too fast, doesn’t it?

    Photo Fun Day Friday

This is my greeting card assembly line getting ready for an event. The team was seriously slacking this day.

Real friends know you like sweet and savory together (oh and non-GMO popcorn). Chocolate drizzled popcorn for dessert? Yes please!

Scenes from the Green Truck, an LA food truck that serves organic, locally sourced foods! The truck actually runs on recycled vegetable oil. All of their packaging and utensils are either recyclable or compostable and they compost everything back to the farms where they source from. How cool is all that?

    Photo Fun Day Friday

I got their super yummy CALI KALE BOWL: Organic kale, mushrooms, quinoa, Gilroy garlic, shaved raw beets and carrots tossed with lemon, sea salt and pepper, and sprinkled with sesame seeds

Last week, I hit my first 4 mile run!! I was sooo proud of myself. I am really loving running now and I am so happy to see some major changes in my body already, as a result. Running 2 to 3 times a week and sticking with my 4 mile runs each time, until it gets super easy for me!
