Cookbook Giveaway and Review - Against All Grain: Delectable Paleo Recipes to Eat Well & Feel Great

Before we get into the cookbook and my review, if you aren’t already following and reading Danielle’s blog Against All Grain, you have seriously been missing out. Danielle’s site is filled with incredible gluten-free, grain-free, dairy-free recipes that will have you drooling on your keyboard within minutes. I had the pleasure of sharing a recipe with her readers this past fall, while she worked on this book and it was an honor, to say the least, to be among such beautiful creations.

I had the wonderful opportunity to preview this cookbook, Against All Grain: Delectable Paleo Recipes to Eat Well & Feel Great, weeks before it’s release date yesterday and I have to say it is even better than I could have imagined. Although I am 100% gluten-free I do not follow a paleo diet, exactly, though I have been much more aware over the last two years of just how much grain and starch I consume. I do have to say I have noticed a huge difference in how I feel when I have been eating less grains. I am fortunate that I am not faced with any sort of major health issues complicated by grains so I can dabble with elements and recipes from the paleo diet, but I am not forced to follow it 100% of the time. I like that for myself. The beauty of this cookbook and what I love about Danielle’s blog, is even with a strong focus on paleo eating I don’t feel like I am being bombarded by meat recipe after meat recipe. Not that there is anything wrong with that, I myself just don’t eat a ton of meat. This book is loaded with a variety of types of recipes, cuisines and there are even a few vegan recipes.

Danielle’s recipes are delicate and light, simple, approachable and easy-to-follow no matter what your kitchen experience is. Danielle found an incredible healing by way of her diet (you can read about her incredible health transformation here) and her commitment and passion shows in every single page of this book, right down to the beautiful photography, all done by her. Against All Grain is much more than the average cookbook, Danielle’s knowledge of food and healthy eating provides us with a guide of sorts, filled with advice, tips, suggestions, replacements, etc. The book is well organized, properly labeled for simple searching of diet specific recipes and so well designed. Whether you are forced to follow a specific diet or you simply just eat/live a healthier lifestyle, this cookbook really is a must for your shelves.

Last night I took a break from work to try Danielle’s Grain-free Rosemary Breadsticks from the book. I opted to go with basil instead of rosemary since it complimented the heirloom tomato salad I was serving with dinner. The breadsticks were so simple to make, I had everything on hand in the pantry and they turned out so beautifully. Not only did I love them, but my gluten-eating, carb-loving hubby couldn’t get enough of them. They are soft and chewy and have so much flavor from the fresh herbs and the garlic. Besides these breadsticks, I now have an insanely long list of recipes from this book that I cannot wait to make, like the grain-free chips and salsa, the blueberry waffles, snickerdoodle cupcakes and her incredible looking hamburger buns.Oh shoot, who am I kidding, I want to make everything in there! It is all looks amazing!

If you wish to purchase Danielle’s brand new book Against All Grain: Delectable Paleo Recipes to Eat Well & Feel Great you can grab it now from Amazon! If I haven’t quite convinced you yet to run over and buy this book immediately, I am giving away one copy of the book to one lucky reader!

I have been following a restricted diet for health reasons for years, and am always on the look out for good recipes that don’t take a lot of effort; watching everything you put into your body can be a chore or a joy; cookbooks like this one make it a joy. I’d love to win this!

I am super excited about this book. I have a child with multiple food allergies, and we have all benefited from the paleo diet. I am always on the lookout for new recipes so my kids don’t feel they are on a special diet.

I’ve recently started the #whole30 after reading the book, “It Starts with Food”. Realizing that I’ve been experiencing so many awful things from grains/dairy, even after being GF for so long, was a huge wake-up call. I’ve realized that paleo is going to be the way to go for me. I would love to have this cookbook as a resource! I’ve heard awesome things about Danielle’s website and story. Now, I need to just go follow her blog!

My husband and I embark on our first Whole30 tomorrow, with a life of grain-free living ahead of us. I have Crohn’s disease, hypothyroidism, and adrenal fatigue; he has psoriasis. This cookbook would go a long way in helping us to have some delicious, creative meals to replace the great meals I’ve been cooking us for years but can no longer prepare without feeling deprived.

I have been a weight watcher member for 4 years and have lost a substantial amount of weight. I am at the point now where I have outgrown weight watchers but still would like to maintain my weight as well as eat healthy. I have been looking into the paleo diet after my daughter recently lost 20 pounds following the diet and it doesn’t seem as restrictive as I thought it would be.

This is one cookbook that I would love to have. It would be another great resource. My 10 yr. old daughter and I have celiac disease and my wonderful husband has gone gluten free so that we would not have any problems with cross contamination. We have been a totally gluten free house for over 6 yrs. now. We are a very whole food/organic family. On top of the celiac disease I developed severe food allergies a few years ago. I am allergic to all foods, but about 10 of them. It is very challenging to come up with some creative ideas for a 10 yr. old and for myself because I am so limited. Most days I feel like I eat the same thing over and over. Thanks so much for offering this!

going gluten-free was the end of 14+ years of suffering; stomach pain, joint pain, and debilitating migraines. this all started with all-too-frequent migraines when i was 12, and over the years, and the myriad of drugs – from your run of the mill painkillers, to blood pressure controlling meds, to anti-seizure medication – i was fed up. so, i took my issues (most notably, migraines) into my own hands and went the homeopathic and gluten-free route. LIFE CHANGING. i am such a huge proponent… it’s really unreal, and i can’t say enough about how much better i feel. my stomach and joint pains going away were an added bonus, but i have had only ONE migraine since going gf in february ’12. i would love, love this book to help me continue to learn new ideas and recipes to mix it up…. all too often, i fall into a grilled-chicken-and-salad rut because of its’ simplicity….. love this blog, and love against all grain’s blog – truly inspiring. xo.
